We caught up with a few winners who provided us with some insight about their writing inspirations.

April Grimm

My writing is heavily inspired by anything and everything in the natural world. The events of my past in relation to who I am today also inspire my writing. Memories are a window to a whole library of potential stories and poems, just waiting to be unearthed.

Amy MacKay

Poetry is my way of healing through venting my problems. I take the nasty, painful parts of my life and create something meaningful and enjoyable from them. The poem I entered for the Spring Into Writing contest came about in the midst of a family emergency, and after I wrote my first draft, I felt like I could breathe again.

Congratulations to you all! Details of the September Winners Circle reading to follow in the Fall.
