Like most Canadians, we are watching our athletes at the Pan Am games with great pride, especially our home town ones, and most especially our own Mount ones.
Michelle Russell (like our recently graduated Una Lounder) majors in English and paddling. It’s a little more intense than Rat’s messing around in boats in The Wind in the Willows. By intense we mean that she reached the podium in all the events in which she competed: silver medals in her K1-200 and K1-500, and a gold in the K4-500.
What’s next? A little relaxation in Toronto for the rest of the Games, and then more training — fine-tuning for the World Championships next month in Milan.
Well done Michelle, and good luck at the Worlds!
