Sorry but I must comment on your use of the term “graphic novelist” and “war artist”. Used together and in this way communicates to the reader that Sharon illustrated and developed the graphic novel, “War Brothers” when in actual fact the transformation from novel to graphic novel was done by Daniel LaFrance, the illustrator. This poses the question, “who is the graphic novelist?”. As an information designer, illustrator and student at the Mount I am disappointed with the promotional pieces for this talk as they are very misleading. In my opinion Sharon is not a “graphic novelist” in the same way that Victor Hugo was not the director of the movie “Les Miserables”.

      Kathy,

Thank you for pointing out the problem with the description of the event. We’ve changed the headline to read “novelist and war artist” instead of “graphic novelist,” which we believe is more accurate in the light of your comments. We will send your comments to the organizers of the event (part of the Mount’s interdisciplinary series, “Just Kidding”).
